Demetriou Soteris

 

is a Research Assistant at the Illinois Security Lab and a MS student at the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign. He is working with Dr Carl A. Gunter (University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign) and Dr Xiaofeng Wang (University of Indiana) under the aegis of the SHARPS (sharps.org) grant. Soteris’s main research focus falls under the both exciting and promising domain of Security and Privacy on mobile devices.
He has worked with Dr Yiannis Laouris on intriguing projects enhanced by technology, aiming to affect positive social impact during his stint at the Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute.
He received his Diploma (a 5-year engineering degree) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece. Specializing in Electronics and Computers. He conducted his diploma thesis under the auspices of the UP Human-Computer Interaction Lab directed by Dr Nikolaos Avouris which lead to the realization of Invisible City (www.invisiblecity.gr), a multiplayer, location-aware pervasive mobile game and a paper co-authorship.
He is a Fulbright Fellow and a member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK).
