Abel Troy

 

 

 

is an Assistant Professor of Visual Communication Design and holds his PhD in Human-Computer Interaction as well as an MFA in Graphic Design, both from Iowa State University. He is affiliated faculty with the Center for Human Computer Interaction (CHCI) and the Institute for Creativity in Art and Technology (ICAT) at Virginia Tech. He has recently developed a dashboard application for the iPad, which visualizes inbound data from a math app and assists in understanding the data therefore allowing teachers to customize a gaming experience on a per student basis. His Eye-Tracking and Usability Testing lab (E-TUT) is constantly developing methodologies and instrument system designers that will be utilized during iterative phases of design to assure positive affective interactions. Dr. Abel teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Human Centered Design, graphic design, and mobile and interface design. Dr. Abel is founder of the Human-Centered Design Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Program at Virginia Tech.
